SAGE NETWORK BY SAGICOR - MONDAY MOTIVATION: NEXT LEVEL WITH SHERYL LEE RALPH

“Next Level is an inside job. You have to know that you are gonna make it. You have to know that you are worthy. You have to know so much that you know enough, that it's not good enough to just be good to yourself. You have to be good to other people too.” Sheryl Lee Ralph, international actress and motivational speaker shared while addressing Sagicor team members at their Blast Off Motivational Session where she was the featured speaker. As our work and personal lives become more complex, largely due to the ongoing global pandemic, we must still figure out how to get to that next level. Fundamental changes in the way that we live and think are critical if we are going to ‘level up’. 

Getting to that next level also means putting yourself in the right mindset and finding the joy within that drives you. There always comes a time when we need to work on our inner game in order to maximise our outer performance and results. Our mindset influences our productivity, our courage, our confidence, how we present ourselves, the language we use, the conversations we have, how we respond to the challenges we face, and the opportunities we seize. In encouraging Sagicor’s team members to look within themself as they seek to get to that next level, Sheryl Lee Ralph said this, “The 1st thing is, you must get in your mind your joy. What is your joy? What would you love to do so much that you would do it whether people were paying you or not?“ So whether we are intimidated or bold or neither of the two, our mindset impacts everything we do everyday and in every part of our lives.


The many challenges we face, especially in recent times, can be overwhelming but we need to adapt in order to meet these challenges. In fact, learning how to adapt to the changes in how we work, how our children attend school and how we interact with others while observing Covid-19 protocols require that we look within, knowing we have what it takes to overcome our challenges. If change is to happen then we must understand that this change must start within us. “In order for me to level up, I had to really believe in myself and what I was bringing to the team. You’ve got to know exactly who you are and what you’re bringing to the table.” Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Arriving to the next level of your success depends on where you are coming from and where you want to go. Know in general what ‘next level’ means to you then start imagining that and start paying attention to those around you who embody that. It is just as important to start from within, as it is to be inspired by persons you can access directly or indirectly by learning from their success. “You have got to believe in yourself and learn everything you can be because if I can do it, trust me, you can do it.” Sheryl Lee Ralph.

World Heart Day on September 29 is an annual observance that is intended to increase public awareness of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), including their prevention and their global impact.
