GC FAIRY BRUSH COLLECTION

It is widely accepted that the invention of the makeup brush was by the Egyptians for use amongst their well-to-do. Centuries later, in 1925, the BBC reported the discovery of a Saxon Cemetary in Argyll Avenue, Luton where buried amongst the remains of the wealthy deceased dating back to 600 AD was the handle of a cosmetic brush. In fact, up until 1835, when German chemist Justus Von LieBig invented the prototype for what was to become the modern day mirror, makeup brushes were primarily tools for the wealthy who would have their servants create various looks using makeup. Brushes then began appearing all across the globe with the Japanese, who had been using animal-hair brushes since the B.C. days for their calligraphy , quickly transferring their skills to making cosmetic brushes. To this day, Germany and Japan maintain a very small culture of excellent brush making, usually for the most discerning luxury customers. SAGE Network: Lessons from Women in Business

Globally, women have become engines for economic growth and the continued drive to achieve gender diversity in enterprises is of critical importance to improving business outcomes. In fact, the number of women in management positions has increased over the past 20 years, and today Jamaica boasts the highest proportion of female managers in the world. Though women may still be under-represented in business, they have increasingly overtaken men in terms of entrepreneurial endeavours, despite the many setbacks they may face. “Having to interact with players and stakeholders in the industry, sometimes they look at you and they think that because you are a woman and because you are young, you don't know what you're talking about.” shared Lacey-Ann Bartley of Bartley’s All In Wood. “ The way I overcome that is making sure that, as my dad instilled in me, that I am twice as good and I invest a lot of time in knowing the information regarding my industry and I do my job with integri...
